Relay for Life

I helped out, last weekend, with a charity event for cancer survivors & victims.

It's called Relay for Life. Look it up and see if you, too, can help out.

Here are some photos...

Before & After

Here are some (out of order) examples of before & after photos to show off some of my editing skills.

These are merely color & sharpness corrections.

High Dynamic Range

I took a couple of photos for a friend as a favor this weekend. I used a method (rather than a technique) called HDR (High Dynamic Range). It combines several of the same photos taken at different exposures to give the resulting photo all ranges of exposure.

A problem that results in nearly all photographs is that the sky might be too blown out and over exposed while the foreground looks fine. Or, the foreground might be too dark while the sky looks great. HDR, when you have a tripod and the proper software, defeats all of that.

I also used different application of color for these images. That is why one is more green while the other has color more associated with being in the sun.

Enjoy! And click on them to make them larger.

Pieces of Bisbee (the entropic parts)

Here are some photos of my home away from home (as rarely as I do tend to visit the place): Bisbee, Arizona.

Keeping to my artistic theme, these are more of the entropic subjects rather then the beautiful, copper mining town of the old west that is Bisbee.

Don't forget to click on the images to make them bigger.

Enjoy!

Shotcrete

Just a little something extra.

I did this for a job and I thought the focus of these photographs were something worth showing.

Enjoy!

Easter Eggs

I went out and dyed Easter Eggs with my girlfriends niece this last weekend.

Here are some photos.

Enjoy, and click on them to make them larger.

Thank you.

Nothing too special today; just an old photo that I found while going through my files. I, quite obviously, rehashed and recolored it from a black and white. It looks tropical to me, now.

Anyway, I like this one because I placed the camera on the road itself. Roads have a curve to them that peak/peek to its zenith somewhere in the middle before completing its parabola. Also, on the left of the photograph, there is a car barely escaping the frame's capture.

Enjoy!

Need Straighter Photos?

Are you having a bit of trouble with that great looking landscape photo of yours being a tad askew?

Do you have Photoshop?

Well, here is a very simple way to straighten your photo without the degradation of using Free Transform and rotate.

For practice, open a photo that you have containing a horizon within Photoshop. A photo of an ocean works best. Also, make sure this photo is slanted.

In your tools panel find the eyedropper tool. Do a right-click hold revealing all other hidden tools. Click on the ruler tool. You can also do SHIFT I and cycle through until you get the ruler.

Draw a line along the askew horizon of the photo using the ruler tool.

Click on Image – Imagine Rotation – Arbitrary… A dialogue box will pop up. Don't change any of the setting and click OK.

Your photo should be straight. Just crop it down so take out the canvas.

Thanks for reading.

Vacation Photos - Third Batch (a very small batch at that)

There is no such thing as Standardization in Mexico.

Everywhere there happens to be things in a state of disrepair.

I found the graffiti to be very interesting.

I just enjoy taking photos of barbed wire. In this case it is to protect something that is already damaged.

Thanks for visiting.
